Lamar Odom - A lesson in NBA fashion faux pas

May 28, 2009

So last week I strolled into work and instead of hearing the customary “Yo, you catch the game last night?”, I got “Dude, did you SEE what Lamar Odom was wearing?!?!?” from a co-worker upon arriving at my desk. Sensing from the tone of his voice that I missed out on something crazy, I decided to look it up and came across this:

vest2

“yup, that’s it!!” my co-worker replied after I showed him the pic. Pretty bold move, a madras shirt with a red leather vest. Definitely not something I would wear, but not the worst I’ve seen. So I decided to look up more of Lamar’s fashion no-no’s and found the following:

lakesuit
I did NOT photoshop this pic - he’s got a white blazer, with gold lapels and purple sleeves. Doesn’t look too bad and kudos for wearing your team colors, but could definitely could ditch the hoodie.

burgsuit
Apparently Lamar is not a fan of the traditional blazer.

Damn dude, how many blazer hoodies do you have??

Love the Air Jordan VI’s….can’t say the same about the rest of the outfit.

It definitely takes balls to pull off some of the outfits you’ve been seen in, Lamar. And if you ever decide to get a personal stylist, I’ve got 2 female co-workers who will drop everything and be on the next flight out to L.A., so let me know.

Shaq and Kobe’s defining playoff moment

May 27, 2009

If you’ve been watching the NBA Playoffs this year, I’m sure you’ve seen a bunch of those “NBA, where amazing happens” commercials….you know, the ones where a memorable playoff moment from the past is replaying in slow motion to Carly Comando’s “Everyday”? Check out the one below, taken from Game 7 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals between the L.A. Lakers and the Portland Trailblazers. To recap, Portland had just blown a 15 point 4th quarter lead, it’s the closing seconds and Kobe Bryant has the ball at the top of the key…

Can’t help but notice how after Shaq completes the alley-oop from Bryant, 0:17 into the clip…Kobe raises his right arm to give Shaq a high five. Shaq instead, runs right past him towards the Laker bench as Portland just called timeout. To avoid being “left hangin”, Kobe lightly grabs Shaq’s forearm as he runs past him, haha.

We all know these two had their problems in the past, but was Shaq trying to brush off Kobe on purpose? Or was he caught up in the moment and ran towards the Laker bench to be mobbed by his teammates? You be the judge.
