Saving Money

August 29, 2008

Coffee and money:

I: OMG…Things are getting so expensive. I decided that I had to give up coffee. Because I started calculating it. Everyd-
J: I don’t want to hear it…
I: But think about it. Alright, so every week I spend $20 on coffee. Averaged out over a year, that’s over $1,000.
J: omg! I just can’t. I drink starbucks.
I: Starbucks?! Man…if you gave that up you’d save a ton of money.
J: Whatever! I do save money! I just like switched from grandes to tall!!!

The Kooks

August 26, 2008

The Kooks are coming to Rumsey Playfield in New York’s Central Park next month. This band has kind of become my new obsession.

They’re a rock band hailing from the UK and bring a sound that is reminiscent of the those other brit rock kids (from Jacksonville, Florida), The Black Kids. Ok, maybe not exactly like them. They definitely don’t rock the old High School dance harmonies like the Black Kids. But they are alike in that they sound fresh, even though the Kooks have been around for quite some time now.

I guess you can say this music is sounds a little older and mature. Not fun loving innocence, as it is more, “Hey, I’m in college now.” This music is rated A - that is more suitable for Adults. Below is one of their music videos.

They play on September 10th, in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield.

Big thanks to Dave’s mom for this one. HA!

Wisdom Teeth update

August 22, 2008

celine dion

After getting only 2 of my wisdom teeth taken out (surgeon said that we should way it out a little), I now associate getting my teeth pulled with Celine Dion.

Why do all dentist offices play 106.7 lite FM?

Thanks Dr. Oral Surgeon, you’ve officially ruined my what I thought would be an undying love for Celine Dion and her angelic booming voice. I suppose you’ll be playing Clay Aiken next. A-holes!

Anyway, feeling fine. Not too swollen. But still bleeding a lot. Kind of gross. Still able to eat real food, but very slowly and small bites. At least I get days off…but now I’m at work b/c I couldn’t stand the boredom of being at home for another day…woof.

It’s Like Pulling Wisdom Teeth

August 19, 2008

wisdom teeth, peasandnuts, peas and nuts, teeth, molars
I’m getting all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out tomorrow. Count ‘em up…FOUR!

I’m a little nervous about it. BUT thought it would be kind of funny to blog about my whole experience of getting these babies removed, and the after effects.

And even though I’ll be doped up on laughing gas, novacaine, and vicodin, I’m going to try to twitter (see the “What are we doing now” feed to the right) and update throughout the procedure.

It’s only supposed to be only 45 minutes. We’ll see about that!

Wish me luck.

Taiwan Scattergories II

Another story from Connie about Scattergories

Round 2 Category: Vegetables

Mandy: Eggplant!
Connie: Whoa, good one. Who’s got eggplant? (everyone) Aww, that’s too bad Mandy. No star. You’re up Jack.
Jack: Cum.
Connie: (straight face) excuse me…did you say ‘Cum?’ (he nods) I…don’t…think…cum’s a vegetable, Jack.
Jack: (clearly confused) Yes it is!
Connie: ok…well, what’s cum?
(At this point, all students are jumping up and down asking “What’s cum? what’s cum?!” until I read what he wrote.)
Connie: Corn, Jack. CORRRN.
Jack: Yes, cun is a vegetable!

I probably would have said something like, “alright…so who’s got cum?”

Classy…
