Another New York Moment. A story by Evmo:

I was doing laundry last night at a neighborhood laundry mat.

This was my first time there, so I’m figuring out how many quarters I need per machine (shoot, the bigger question was, do I have enough quarters period(!)…as well as for 3 chocolate chip cookies from McD’s). I all of a sudden see that a random guy is looking at me in the mirror. Not a scary look. Not a “Hey Baby” kind of look…Just a look.

I think nothing of it because I’m a firm believer that laundry mats attract random folks.

So, I wash, I dry, and am now folding my sheets when…

…

…he comes up to me out of no where and says, “Can I help you fold those?”

O-M-G creepy!

Me: “Um, no that’s ok”

Creepy Guy (CG): “Oh, where are you from?”

Me: “Nicaragua”

CG pauses as to skim through his brain for a map, a fact, anything about Nicaragua…and then he says, “Oh, well have a good day”

I stammer, “Um, likewise”

Yo, all I know is that I sure am glad I was folding sheets and NOT my underwear!!!

Last Friday, my friend Becca and I saw Planet BBoy - a documentary about bboying around the world, culminating at today’s bboy epicenter - Battle of the Year! This is the platform where the best crews from around the world compete on one stage. It’s almost like the World Cup of BBoying.

It follows the bboy stories for 4 different crews around the world

- Last for One: Korea
- Ichigeki: Japan
- Phase-T: France
- Knucklehead Zoo: USA

Their stories are amazing. And the dancing is phenomenal. One of the most fascinating things for me in the movie was seeing the family perspectives on BBoying. Below is the trailer:
